About Me

Professional Background

I have worked as a designer my entire professional career. I started my first job as a web designer in my last year of high school. I had a brief stint in architecture (my degree is in architecture). The rest of my career has been focused on creating software brands and products.

I have a background in product and visual design, specifically designing for complex and technical tools. Currently, I am leading a team of designers at CircleCI. The majority of my career has been spent working on B2B, developer, and enterprise products.

Leadership Philosophy

I pride myself on being an inclusive design leader who is empathetic, low-ego, and driven to help others. As passionate as I am about good design, I am equally passionate about helping designers grow in their careers.

Design Philosophy

While I default to bringing simplicity from complexity, sometimes things warrant complexity — like airplane cockpits and dev tools. I believe that design is a craft, and good design is a result of good craftsmanship.

Additional Skills & Interests

I have a passion for learning and building things. In addition to my work with design, I have also been coding for over 20 years. I have also built physical things like sheds, furniture, and offices.
